Maybe it's time for a travelectomy
Do you travel often or for long periods as part of your job? Do you spend countless nights on the road? Do you consider yourself a member of the Too-Frequent Traveler Club?
If your answers are yes, yes, and yes, maybe it's time to take a break from travel—cut it out of your schedule for a while. Maybe it’s time for a … travelectomy.
Not sure you’re ready? Well, to help you make that determination, I've assembled the top ten symptoms that indicate you are due for radical travel surgery.
Number 10: You have accumulated enough frequent-flyer miles to fly to the moon and back—twice. Number 9: You will never run out of shampoo, single-serving coffee packets, sewing kits or ball point pens. Number 8: You have forgotten how to put gas in your own car.
Number 7: You know the three-letter airport codes for more than 250 airports.
Number 6: You can't get the Willie Nelson tune "On the Road Again" out of your head.
Number 5: When you come home, your dog snarls and barks at you, and won't let you into your house.
Number 4: Credit card companies have replaced your gold and platinum cards with plutonium cards.
Number 3: Your kids refer to you as "that person with the suitcases." (Worse, they’ve started calling call the mailman "Pop" and the nanny "Mom.")
Number 2: Your company has converted your office to a conference room, eliminated your name from the phone directory and reassigned your parking spot to the guy from the mail room.
And the Number 1 sign that you are ready for a travelectomy: The last time you were supposed to go into your office, you drove to the airport instead.
If you show any of these signs, you had better seriously think about taking a breather from travel. Your health, your family, and your career will probably all benefit. If on the other hand you show all of these signs, it may be too late.
